Directions:Read the case study and write a 10-page comprehensive essay ( not including the cover and reference pages) examining the theories of criminal behavior and what may have led to the development of delinquent or criminal behavior. Compare and contrast three key theories that could apply to the case and select the one that you find the most applicable. Provide a rationale for the theory that is most applicable, explaining how the theory applies to the case. Consider the various professionals from forensic psychology that may be involved in the case and discuss how the perspective of different professionals on the criminal theory may be similar and different, including rationale for why the differences may exist. Read the criminal case study provided and examine the areas that a forensic psychologist may be used, when other psychology professionals may be used, and how the forensic psychology professional interacts with the legal system. Think broadly as you review the case and consider all areas that may be impacted such as working with victims, working with law enforcement, profiling to assist in solving case, assessment of accused to stand trial, expert testimony (victim and accused), and jury selection, to name a few. Describe why the case would be addressed from the field of forensic psychology as opposed to other subspecialties of psychology such as clinical or I/O psychology. As you develop your assessment, focus on the field of forensic psychology and differentiate between the different subfields within forensic psychology that would be involved in the case, as well as psychology and legal system professionals involved. Identify at least three subspecialties within forensic psychology, discuss the core elements of that practice area, what makes the subfield forensic and not part of another subspecialty in psychology (I/O, counseling, etc.), compare and contrast the skills necessary, credentials that may be needed, the work that is done, and why each is important to the field. Select one subspecialty of interest and identify what it will take to become a professional within the subspecialty and outline a plan to transition from your current profession to your chosen subspecialty. Analyze the case for ethical and multicultural issues that could influence the case and how professionals working in forensic psychology can prepare themselves for the issues that may occur. Part One: Describe the case ( Please see the example paper attached for all parts)APA 7th Edition How is the case addressed from a forensic psychology perspective? How does this differ from other subspecialties in psychology?
What forensic psychology subfields are involved in the case and what different forensic psychology professionals are involved?
What professionals from other subspecialties of psychology and the legal field are involved in the case?
Part Two: Analyze the case What major forensic psychology theories emerge in the case?
What does the literature suggest for approaching the key issues identified in the case?
What forensic psychology, psychology, and legal field professionals should be involved in the case and what roles and responsibilities will they fulfill?
What multicultural and ethical issues emerge and how should forensic psychology professionals address the issues?
Part Three: Recommendations What does the literature say about applying theory to practice in this case?
What forensic psychology professionals should address the case and what steps should they take?
What knowledge, skills, and education will the forensic psychology professionals need to address the case?
Select a subspecialty within forensic psychology, identified within the case, and describe what it will take to become a professional in the field, including a professional development plan to transition from your current profession to your selected subspecialty.
Other Requirements This assignment will require you to write a 10–15 page paper (body of your paper, not including your title page and reference list), utilizing 5–7 scholarly resources to support your work. Be sure to include scholarly research as evidence to support your ideas throughout your response. Avoid the use of direct quotes. If you must include quotes, limit your use to one or two short (less than 40 words) direct quotes as a maximum for the entire paper. It is important to read and study your resources. Learn the material and then write in your own words as to your understanding. Make sure you cite any sources that you use to gather the information that you shared throughout the paper in APA format. Wherever possible, try to use your own words in order to clearly demonstrate your understanding. Note the sources that are deemed as scholarly are peer-reviewed journals, textbooks, or scholarly books. As for an abstract, this is not required. Abstracts are only used when you are summarizing the results of your own scholarly research. Instead, you want to provide an introductory paragraph, with a clear purpose or argument, and the main points that you want the reader to come away with after reading your paper. Work to include organized and clear paragraphs with scholarly evidence to support your ideas, and a final concluding paragraph to summarize your main ideas or argument once more. Visit the Graduate Resource Center for more tips on these points. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, remember to cite your sources clearly and carefully in-text as well as at the end of your paper. Review the University Plagiarism/Academic Integrity Policy within the course homepage, and follow the golden rule of when in doubt, cite your source.
