The public is always asked to comment on Land/Natural Resource management projects. There are few instructions for the public other than, “Please feel free to share any issues or concerns you may have relative to these actions.” Your assignment is to make detailed comments that: 1) express your private citizen environmental concerns, 2) as a private citizen, you ask questions about concerns that are not well enough addressed in the documents and for which you would like more information (in other words, what else would you like to know that is not in the description) and 3) as if you are the District Ranger (in the Forest Service), make a Yes/No/More-Information-Needed decision based on what is presented in the PDFs and any personal knowledge and opinion you have. Describe your hesitations or reasons for approval based on the information contained in the documents. These are real and active projects. DO NOT CONTACT anyone listed in these documents. You are to address #1 and #2 above as the private citizen that you are with the knowledge that you have. For #3 you are to think as the top line officer who will sign off, reject, or delay the project. Organize your paper well. Use copious titles and sub-titles to direct your reader. Write three tightly written pages per project of your choice (6 pages total).
